Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extract
This is a type of lotus leaf that supports the extracellular matrix – non-living tissue that supports skin cells. It’s rich in a protein-repair enzyme, called Lisoaspartyl Methyltransferase, and helps hydrate and tighten the skin. It’s also of interest as an application to fight acne.

Rutin
A bioflavanoid found in certain plants, Rutin is a powerful antioxidant that helps stabilize Vitamin C. When combined with the latter, it helps fight age-causing free radicals. As well, it helps strengthen capillaries, and helps preserve collagen and elastin synthesis by fighting histamine.

Palmitoyl Oligopeptide
A peptide that’s sometimes compared to Retinol, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide is man-made. It’s a collagen fragment attached to palmitic acid. In plain English, that means this peptide binds to skin, and helps increase production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, all of which being critical to youthful skin.

Caprylic Capric Triglycerides
This helps skin retain moisture. It’s a scentless, colorless substance that rapidly absorbs in human skin.

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7
Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 helps connect tissue and improves skin healing through production of collagen and elastin. When combined with Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, it’s shown to reduce wrinkle depth and volume on application for two months.

Phaseolus Lunatus (Green Bean) Extract
This is just packed with antioxidants, tannins and polyphenols that help reduce inflammation and scarring. It also helps regenerate collagen, and assists with wound recovery.

Siegesbeckia Orientalis Extract
An anti-inflammatory and skin emollient, studies done on Siegesbeckia Orientalis Extract used on stretch marks show the latter decreased in length by 52%. And stretch mark indentation improved by 55%, with further improvements also noted to stretch mark depth, tone, color, texture and smoothness.

Hydrolyzed Soybean Fiber

Another essential oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis helps tone the skin.

​Beta Glucan
Beta glucans are applied to the skin for anti-wrinkle purposes, but have a much longer history of use in treating eczema, burns, and wounds, and have shown to reduce scarring after surgery. Long used as a moisturizer capable of forming a film over the skin, beta glucan is an anti-irritant that stimulates collagen deposition. It also supports the health of macrophages, which are the cells that destroy bacteria, dead or mutated skin cells, environmental toxins, etc. When macrophages are brought back to a healthy condition, skin has renewed immunity and can easily remove dead and damaged cells. Beta glucan is also currently of interest as a possible non-invasive alternative to Botox.

​Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extract
Extracted from lotus leaf, it works to sooth inflammation and preserve the architecture of the extracellular matrix (the non-living tissue that supports the skin cells), which is made largely of proteins. Nelumbo Nucifera contains a substantial quantity of a protein-repair enzyme called Lisoaspartyl methyltransferase. For skincare, it is known to reduce the appearance of skin surface irregularities and works to both hydrate and tighten the skin. Has been clinically proven to reduce acne scarring. Commonly used to treat the appearance of cellulite.

​Rutin
Rutin is a bioflavonoid found in many plants, fruits, and vegetables, including buckwheat, apple peel, citrus fruits and black tea. It has powerful antioxidant properties and also stabilizes vitamin C, making it more potent. Together, Rutin and vitamin C (as strong antioxidants) fight free radical damage and thereby help maintain a stronger collagen matrix. Rutin strengthens capillaries and has anti-inflammatory and healing properties. It is known to inhibit the body’s production of histamine, which is desirable because histamine production interrupts normal production of collagen and elastin.

​Palmitoyl Oligopeptide
A relatively new peptide that is being compared to retinol, but without the side effects. Peptides are known to aid skin repair and renewal. Palmitoyl Oligopeptide is a man-made peptide that is actually a fragment of collagen attached to palmitic acid. The palmitic acid makes the peptide more stable and enhances its ability to bind to the skin. Palmitoyl Oligopeptide has been shown to increase production of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, and glucosaminoglycan.

​Caprylic Capric Triglycerides
Protects against moisture loss while soothing and softening skin. It is colorless, odorless, and safe for sensitive skin. It goes on smoothly and is rapidly absorbed by the skin, with a light, non-oily texture.

​Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7
Together with Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (also included in the formulation), it’s a powerful connective tissue booster, improving collagen and elastin production so the skin can heal itself. This combination has been reported to reduce wrinkle depth by up to 15% and wrinkle volume by up to 18% after 2 months of daily application (in a private study by Sederma).

​Phaseolus Lunatus (Green Bean) Extract
Full of antioxidants, tannins, and polyphenols, the purified extract contains a protein that inhibits inflammation and the subsequent damage and scarring. Phaseolus lunatus also aids in wound prevention and recovery by contributing to the regeneration of collagen.

​Siegesbeckia Orientalis Extract
Widely used as an anti-inflammatory and an emollient for skin repair. It has been used for thousands of years to promote wound healing. Helps restore the collagen matrix and promote natural collagen production. Clinical studies using Siegesbeckia Orientalis on stretch marks have shown a 52 percent decrease in length, a 55 percent decrease in indentation, a 12.9 percent decrease in depth, and a 13.7 percent increase in tone, color, texture, and smoothness of stretch marks.

​Hydrolyzed Soybean Fiber
Renews fibroblast activity to increase collagen production. Composed primarily of amino acids, peptides, and proteins, soy extract is a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. It contains a polypeptide that is responsible for its significant moisturizing properties.

​Panthenol
A derivative of vitamin B5, or pantothenic acid, that is typically plant-derived. Pantothenic acid is a natural substance of all living cells and tissues and is necessary for proper metabolic function and the manufacturing of hormones. It penetrates into the second layer of skin (the dermis) and can help stabilize the skin’s metabolism. Panthenol can aid in evening skin tone by stimulating skin pigment formation. Panthenol also acts as an emollient in skin creams. Panthenol promotes wound healing. It is also effective as an anti-inflammatory for skin trauma or allergies.

​Sodium Lactate
Acts as a penetration enhancer that alters the skin structure to allow other ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin. It is used to supplement the skin’s own naturally occurring sodium lactate to provide added moisturizing and skin conditioning. It is one part of the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) and helps renew skin cells. It is also used to prevent pigmentation in the skin.

​Isopropyl Palmitate
A moisturizer with vitamin A and antioxidants; promotes soft, supple skin.

​Stearyl Alcohol
A fatty alcohol that is typically derived from coconut oil, and is not damaging or drying to the skin like chemical-based alcohol. It’s an excellent emollient (moisturizer).

​Allantoin
Used to treat dry and damaged skin since the 16th century, it’s a moisturizer and a kerolytic – which means it softens the keratin in the skin (the key structural protein in the epidermis), allowing skin to heal more quickly and to absorb moisture more effectively. Allantoin also protects skin from environmental and mechanical damage (like shaving) and is used widely in personal care products. It is useful for healing wounds, burns, scars, and skin irritations.

​Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil
An astringent that firms and protects the skin. It also acts as a tonic that restores, invigorates, and tones the skin and tissues, and purifies the skin of toxins. It is classed as an essential oil and is also an anti-bacterial. High in antioxidants.

​Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil
An essential oil used to tone and restore the skin. Also anti-bacterial and high in antioxidants.

​Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil
The oil of lemon grass, it’s a fresh, citrus-smelling herb used as an antiseptic and astringent to cleanse oily skin and close pores.
