Allantoin (.5%)
Also known as vitamin U, Allantoin has been used to treat dry and damaged skin since the 16th century. Allantoin is a moisturizer and a kerolytic – which means it softens the keratin in the skin (the key structural protein in the epidermis), allowing skin to heal more quickly and to absorb moisture more effectively.
Known for its anti-inflammatory effects, Allantoin is often used to stimulate regeneration of healthy skin cell tissues. At the same time, it acts as a chemical “debrider,” which means it helps slough off dead and damaged skin cells and tissues. Together, these actions help speed the general healing of the skin.
In cases of mechanical and chemical irritation, significant decrease of skin water loss and redness of the skin after treatment with a cream containing 0.5 % Allantoin has been observed. After UV irritation, the redness decreases with a cream containing 0.5 % Allantoin.
Hydrolite 5
Skin moisturizer that enhances the bioavailability of other ingredients. Proven in study to increase skin moisturization by 100% in a 14-day period.
Other Notable Ingredients
Beta-Glucan
Beta glucans are applied to the skin for anti-wrinkle purposes, but have a much longer history of use in treating eczema, burns, and wounds, and have shown to reduce scarring after surgery. Long used as a moisturizer capable of forming a film over the skin, beta glucan is an anti-irritant that stimulates collagen deposition. It also supports the health of macrophages, which are the cells that destroy bacteria, dead or mutated skin cells, environmental toxins, etc. When macrophages are brought back to a healthy condition, skin has renewed immunity and can easily remove dead and damaged cells. Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Fruit Extract
Contains plant pigments called anthocyanosides that have powerful antioxidant properties, as well as vitamin C. Together they scavenge free radicals and help skin maintain elasticity with a healthy collagen and elastin matrix. Often used in the treatment of vascular and vision disorders, bilberry extract is known to improve blood circulation.
Euterpe Oleacea (Acai) Fruit Extract
The extract of the acai berry helps prevent the erosion of the skin’s protective coating while helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also useful for healing small skin wounds. High in omega-3, 6, & 9 as well as fatty acids, B-complex vitamins, Vitamin C, minerals and amino acids…. it has extremely high antioxidant value and is an excellent moisturizer and healing agent for dry or cracked skin.
Lycium Barbarum (Goji) Extract
With significant polysaccharides, 19 amino acids, 21 trace minerals, and vitamins (C, E, B1, B2, B6, & E), Goji has been found to increase cell metabolic function by as much as 20% when applied topically. High in antioxidant activity, goji has also been reported to capture superoxide radicals (between 35-82%). (Wu, SJ. et al, 2004) And this high antioxidant activity has been shown to help reduce the effects of skin aging. As well it has been noted to improve skin healing with anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties.
Aristotelia Chilensisui (Macai Berry) Fruit Extract
The maqui berry is from the Patagonia region of South America and has been used to help reverse the aging process for centuries by the natives of Mapuche. Exceptionally high in antioxidants, it helps support optimal skin function and healing, with potent anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial action.
Aronia Arbutifolia/Aronia Melanocarpa (Chokeberry) Fruit Extract
Found in North America growing in woodland areas, chokeberries have been a staple in native Indian diets for hundreds of years. More recently they’ve earned a reputation for being exceptionally high in antioxidants; according to one study by NP Nutra, they score higher than almost all other ‘superfruits’ for antioxidatives. This makes it exceptionally valuable for skin healing and dermal regeneration.
Garcinia Mangostana Fruit Extract

So to lessen the appearance of scars, you need to be patient as your ‘scarred cells’ are slowly pushed to the surface, sloughed off, and replaced by ‘normal cells.’ Depending on the size and depth of your scar, this can take anywhere from 90 days to 6 months.
Yes, Dermefface FX7™ does work to fade older, mature scars (i.e. scars older than 2 years).
However, the most dramatic results are seen on scars that are between 3 months and 2 years old, so the sooner you begin applying it, the better!
Absolutely! Though, keep in mind that these deep surgery scars really do take the full 2 years to mature, so you’d be wise to commit to a minimum 6-month program, for best results!
You can begin applying it as soon as the wound is closed and dry with sutures, stitches, and staples removed. If you have any concerns, you should speak with your doctor before use.
It will vary depending on how much coverage you need, but generally speaking, assuming you’re applying it to a single area of scarring, you can expect a tube to last you about 30 days.
If your skin is particularly sensitive, we recommend you test a small amount of the product on your arm or jaw line before using a full application… We have received no complaints to date, but everyone is different!
Apply a thin layer of the cream to your scar and the skin immediately surrounding it, gently smoothing until the cream has been fully absorbed. For best results, apply to your scars twice daily, morning and evening, until the desired results are achieved. It may be worn under your makeup.
